PUTNAM COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A Putnam County teen accused of killing two teen brothers was in court Thursday.

Michael Fay, 17, is charged with two counts of aggravated murder for the deaths of Blake and Blaine Romes.

Prosecutors have made a motion to have Fay tried as an adult in the case.

A judge on Thursday denied a motion by the defense to keep the media out of pre-trial hearings. They argued that media cameras and reports could taint the jury pool, or put Fay in danger.

"The judge came to exactly the right conclusion," said Attorney Terry Davis. "There needs to be some transparency in the court for trials such as Mr. Fay's trial, so that everybody can have faith in the system. That's the only way it works."

Fay will return to court next week, where a judge will determine if he should be tried as an adult.

An Amber Alert was issued for Blake, Blaine, and Michael in the morning of May 9. A few hours later, the vehicle that was missing from the scene was found in the Columbus area with Michael. The Amber Alert was canceled after he told authorities where the brothers' bodies were.
