MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) -

A 19-year-old man is facing aggravated vehicular homicide charges for a fatal Middletown crash.

Nicholas Powers, of Camden, Ohio, was indicted on Monday. Investigators say Powers was impaired when he ran a red light and slammed into a car in Middletown last June, just one hour after causing another wreck nearby.

According to the police report, Powers was driving a silver Honda Accord northbound on Towne Boulevard. He was speeding and ran a red light at the intersection of Pendleton Circle near Towne Mall, hitting a 2002 Grand Am.

The male driver of the Grand Am was killed in the crash. A female passenger was flown to Miami Valley Hospital where she later died from her injuries. Like Powers, both victims were also from Camden.

A juvenile female passenger was in Powers' car and was taken to Atrium Medical Center with non- life threatening injuries.

Police later discovered that Powers caused a crash at the intersection of Breiel Boulevard and Lefferson Road just an hour before the fatal accident. He reportedly fled the scene.

Only property damage was caused by Powers in the first crash.

Powers reportedly told investigators he had been huffing and didn't remember the crashes.

He now faces two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and operating a motor vehicle under the influence for the crash near Towne Mall.

He was additionally charged with fleeing the scene of an accident and failure to control for the accident at Breiel Blvd. and Lefferson Rd.

Powers is being held at the Middletown City Jail on a $220,000 bond.

He faces 18 years in prison if convicted.
