Six arrested at OVI checkpoint on Anthony Wayne Trail

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Six people were arrested for OVI at a checkpoint Friday night in Toledo.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, along with the Toledo Police Department, set up the checkpoint on the Anthony Wayne Trail, in front of the Toledo Zoo, from 9 p.m. to midnight.

During the three-hour period, 16 drivers were checked for impairment. From those 16, six violators were arrested for OVI.

Three drivers were also arrested around the area of the checkpoint for OVI.

The Ohio Investigative Unit assisted during the checkpoint by conducting an investigation of liquor permits in the area. OIS agents arrested one person outside of a liquor establishment for drug trafficking.

In total, 628 drivers passed through Friday night's checkpoint.

    The Federal Aviation Administration's announcement late Wednesday comes nearly a year after the engine's manufacturer recommended the additional inspections, and a month after European regulators ordered their airlines to do the work.
