MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Dixie Electric Cooperative is experiencing problems from the recent highly electrically charged storms. It experienced an outage on Friday at its Notasulga substation due to lighting damaging a new substation transformer.

A statement on its website says full power restoration will come as soon possible. "Since replacing a substation transformer takes significant time, crews worked to transfer load to another substation in the area in order to restore power as quickly as possible. The load transfer occurred in stages with power being restored in the first section beginning at 12:18 a.m. and the final area restored at 1:57 a.m."

(Read the full statement found on its homepage: www.dixieec.com)

Dixie Electric Cooperative says 15 crew members; including members from PowerSouth Energy Cooperative are currently making repairs to the substation.
