(FOX19) -

An annual highway report conducted by the Reason Foundation ranked Ohio 25th in the nation in overall highway performance and efficiency.

Indiana highways faired a little better in the report, ranking in at 22 in the country and Indiana had the best score in the Tri-State with a rank of 14.

According to the Reason Foundation, 11 indicators make up each state’s overall rating, including highway expenditures, interstate and primary road pavement condition, bridge condition, urban interstate congestion, fatality rates and narrow rural lanes.

The study is based on spending and performance data submitted by the state highway agencies to the federal government. The study data released on Tuesday is from 2009 data.
