BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Investigators arrested an 18-year-old Wednesday for the murder of a 19-year-old after the suspect reportedly told witnesses he was the killer.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office said Trevor Georgetown shot and killed Franklin Lara on Jade Avenue, which is off GSRI, on June 6.

According to reports, Georgetown told witnesses he had committed a murder. He reportedly also later gave a witness the victim's cell phone.

Georgetown was booked into parish prison on charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery.
