KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police are investigating after they said a small child was found with nothing on but a diaper.

The boy, who is approximately 2 years old, was found walking along East 43rd Terrace, just east of Sterling Avenue about 10:30 a.m.

Police said three women driving to the airport spotted him and called police.

Officers knocked on doors and finally found the child's father, who said he had fallen asleep while watching him. The boy's mother was at work and a friend who was at the house left the front door unlocked when leaving.

The boy knew how to open the unlocked door and made his escape.

The child was found a block away from his home. They said he was by himself for about 30 minutes before he was found.

Police returned him to his embarrassed dad.
