Avery Morgan is not at all surprised by the burglary on Greystone Way in the Silver Hills subdivision in Prattville. It happened to his dad's home a half-mile away about a year ago.
"They stole a TV and a few other items. We were surprised by that," said Morgan.
On Greystone beyond Cumberland Drive Prattville police say 19-year old Tyler James Kasic broke into a home and stole around $1,000 worth of items. Kasic then allegedly broke into a vehicle at the same location.
Investigators say the suspect knew of the family but was not a relative. That's why the man was somewhat familiar with the home.
There were no injuries in the crime and today Kasic faces two counts of second degree burglary, one count of second degree theft, one count of third degree theft and one count of breaking and entering a vehicle.
Morgan believes the time has come to be even more vigilant. "It does make me a little nervous. We just gotta be more watchful," Morgan said.
Police chief Mark Thompson says Kasic does have a history with the Prattville Police Department but Thompson didn't know the extent at the time of this report.
Kasic has already had his first court appearance. Detectives requested no bond and got it. Kasic remains in the Autauga County Metro jail.
