Man shot in car at Madisonville gas station

MADISONVILLE, OH (FOX19) -

Police are investigating an overnight shooting after a man was found shot in his car in Madisonville.

Police were called to a Marathon Station in the 4200 block of Red Bank Road around 4:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Upon arrival, police found one victim shot in his vehicle. The gas station attendant on duty tells FOX19 that the victim just left the store when the shooting occurred. His vehicle was parked directly in front of the store.

The victim was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he is listed as in critical condition.

The gas station attendant believes that the victim was being robbed at the time of the shooting. However, police have not confirmed this suspicion.

The victim's vehicle had a Florida license plate. It is still unclear if the event was targeted or if it was a random act.

Police say they do believe they have two suspects in custody. Police tailed a vehicle they believed to be involved in the shooting. Two suspects were seen fleeing the vehicle and jumping over an embankment near Edwards Road.

Police say that the suspects are currently in custody.

There is surveillance video from the gas station. Police are waiting for the gas station owner to arrive to review the tapes.

FOX19's Kelly Rippin is live this morning on the FOX19 Morning News. We'll continue to update the story as details become available.
