SYLVANIA TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Some streets in Sylvania on Sunday were shut down and turned into a race course.

This was for the third annual Sylvania Criterium Bike Race.

300 bikers from throughout the Midwest attacked the closed course.

The sport has gained popularity as several cities host criteriums every weekend.

"It's great exercise. Fantastic fitness. I race teammates, so we have lots camaraderie within our team," said Cleveland bike racer, Andy Clarke.

There is a motive to win.

A $4,000 purse was offered to the top racers.
