Toledo double murder suspect assigned new trial date

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A new trial date has been set for a man currently facing charges for two different murders.

Traquawn Gibson appeared in court Monday for a pre-trial hearing. Judge Ruth Ann Franks set his trial date for July 23.

Toledo police say Gibson killed Deonta Allen on Fernwood Avenue back in October 2012. Preliminary investigation revealed the victims were sitting in a car when multiple suspects approached them and opened fire. One victim was hospitalized, but Allen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gibson is also accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend, Crejonnia Bell, in November 2012. According to police, Gibson shot Bell four times in the head and chest outside of her home on Weber Street. She was rushed to the hospital, where she later died.
