LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A motorcycle accident claimed the life of a man after the bike slammed head first into a home.

A short time before 2 a.m. on Wednesday morning, emergency crews responded to a report of a fatal accident along Gladden Drive off Bashford Manor Lane and Newburg Road in Louisville. Upon arrival they found a motorcycle smashed into the front of a home. According to police, the driver of the motorcycle somehow lost control and struck the house.

An investigation is on-going to determine the cause of the accident. At this time, it is not clear if the man was speeding. The house which he ran into is in a cul-de-sac, as Gladden Drive is a dead end street. Although there was some rain overnight, police are not sure if the road was wet at the time of the accident.

"I do believe there was some dew on the grass," said Alicia Smiley, a spokeswoman for LMPD. "He may have slid on the grass, once he made contact with that area. But right now I'm not for certain that a wet roadway was a factor in the accident."

The man, whose name has not been released, was not wearing a helmet. Officers believe he may be in his 20s or 30s. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Toxicology reports are pending.

No one inside the home was injured.
