NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A newly released list shows Nashville has a growing bed bug problem.

The report, released by Terminix pest control, was based on how many calls it received for bed bug extermination.

The company said between January and May of this year, the company saw a 17 percent increase in calls for bed bugs throughout Nashville.

This puts the city as the 14th highest in the country for bed bugs.

Last August, employees at a Xerox call center in Nashville reported an infestation that resulted in some staff members being bitten on the job.

Bed bugs are usually found in furniture, hotels and luggage. They typically travel on your clothes, so they can be found virtually anywhere.

The insects cause health problems and are known to cause infections.

According to Terminix, some of the worst cities for bed bugs include Cincinnati, Philadelphia and Detroit.
