KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
Daron Hayden, who was found fatally shot inside his garage, is Kansas city's 54th homicide this year.
Hayden's family found the 29-year-old man's body about 2:45 a.m. Wednesday inside a residence at 9123 Tennessee Ave.
The home is in a neighborhood just north of Bannister Road and east of James A. Reed Road in the southeast part of the city.
The victim was found by the man's father and two brothers who came to the home to check on his welfare.
Police don't know exactly when the shooting happened. They have no suspect information. No residents heard gunshots or witnessed any suspicious activity at the home.
Trisha Pierson lives two doors down, and she's stunned she didn't hear anything.
"I was awake all night and I didn't hear anything," Pierson said. "It's a little bit scary. I was outside mowing the yard yesterday and sat in the sun not knowing there was somebody who had been shot."
Pierson admits she is unsettled by the slaying, which comes after some of her nearby neighbors have seen robberies and burglaries.
"It's unsettling," she said. "I told my husband it's time to move back to the country. It's a lot quieter."
