LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Twelve children have been taken to Kosair Children's Hospital for treatment after the bus they were riding on was involved in an accident.

According to MetroSafe, the accident was reported at 11:55 a.m. at the intersection of Buechel Bypass and Hikes Lane.

The bus was carrying children between the ages of 5 and 8. The impact knocked many of the children out of their seats. MetroSafe Dispatch tells WAVE 3 News 12 children were taken by Metro EMS to Kosair Children's for treatment.

The injuries are reported to mostly bumps, bruises and scrapes. None are thought to be serious.

West Buechel Police is handling the accident investigation. Manning said no charges are expected to be filed.
