Widow, son of fallen soldier receive new home

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The life of a soldier's wife isn't easy. When the widow of Sgt. Ofren Arrechaga reflects on her husband's death two years ago, she says it was a very dark time.

"Being a widow and single parent, like the emotional stress is just, it's very hard to deal with," explained Seana Arrechaga.

However, loving family members like her mother Debbie Minikhime helped Seana deal with the pain.

"It was the worst thing that ever happened to our family and just trying to cope with the immediate aftermath with the grief and all the paperwork and the funeral and going to Dover," said Minikhime.

Seana also got help from a group called Homes for Our Troops which got her into a home that had been foreclosed on and then renovated.

"Having this home and being in the Cincinnati area and I can go to school here in Cincinnati. It's one less thing I have to worry about."

While her husband was alive, Seana lived near Fort Campbell, Tennessee and she says she put off her own personal goals until now.

"I'll be able to focus on his school and then my school. I don't know what I'm going to go to school for. I don't know what the future is going to hold, but I'm going to be able to focus more attention on stuff like that," she explained, referencing her son Alston.

Seana and Alston plan to move into this newly renovated house in the next couple of weeks and begin the next chapter of their lives.

Sgt. Arrechaga's final mission will be the subject of a soon-to-be released documentary called The Hornet's Nest.
