BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A truck dropped a 2,000 pound load of concrete on I-65 North near the Valleydale exit, causing traffic to back up for miles.

Hoover Police Captain Jim Coker said a pickup truck pulling a trailer lost the trailer on the I-65 N bridge over Valleydale on Friday morning.

The trailer then dumped a 2,000-plus pound piece of concrete onto the interstate. Captain Coker said it is not clear what the giant concrete block would be used for.

There are no reports of injuries.

ALDOT officials are headed to the scene to inspect the bridge for any structural damage and help find a way to move the concrete off the roadway.

As of 11:30 a.m., Hoover police said they don't know when the scene will be cleared. Officials are still trying to find a way to lift the heavy concrete block onto a truck for removal.

All lanes of I-65 are now open for traffic.
