Exchange student abducted at gunpoint in Henry County state park

Officialsare looking for two men they say robbed a foreign exchange student and forcedhim to drive them around at gunpoint.

Theysay it started when a man asked the student for a ride back to his campsite lastFriday at Mary Jane Thurston State Park in Henry County. The student agreed, butthen a second and armed man came from behind and ordered the student to driveout of the park.

Accordingto police, the two men held the student at gunpoint for 12-14 hours, having himdrive all over northwest Ohio.

"Itwent from Perrysburg to Findlay to Ottawa to somewhere north, up in Michigan,"said Henry County Sheriff Michael Bodenbender.

Thestudent was able to get away and call for help the next morning, when the carran out of gas.

"Thewhole incident is pretty bizarre," Bodenbender said. "It's just not somethingwe deal with on a daily basis."

Butthe sheriff says he's hopeful they'll find those responsible. The Bureau ofCriminal Investigation (BCI) is in the process of running tests on the car.

"Accordingto the victim, there's a good chance the suspects were not wearing gloves.Hopefully we can get some prints off that and get a match," he said.

Meanwhile, those at the park say they're in shock, but they aren't going to stop camping.

"Youjust need to remain conscious of whatever is happening around you, and that'swherever you go," said Camp Host Al Alvord.
