MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Our editorial last week focusing on elected officials here in Alabama leaving office early to pursue other opportunities drew quick and pointed feedback.  Here are just a few responses received on wsfa.com and our WSFA 12 News station Facebook page:

Anita responded: "If they had to pay for the special election to elect their replacement, they may think twice about leaving before their term is up or even decide not to run for office in the first place."

Jaysee writes, "How many of us actually believe ANYTHING a politician says? Each time I hear/read something from a politician/political candidate I am always thinking - what's in it for them? The past several elections have proven there is always an agenda."

Christine adds, "It seems most elected officials just view their public service as the means to enrich themselves by taking their knowledge and connections and using them in the private sector. They move between this group and that, selling their influence and enriching themselves."

Lastly Rick says, "This I do agree on!! No matter what your party you made a 4 year commitment, going back on it for your personal gain, SHAME SHAME!"

As always, we encourage and appreciate your feedback.
