Local kids learn baseball fundamentals at Jay Bruce ProCamp

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jay Bruce joined nearly 300 kids for baseball instruction and fun. The 2013 Jay Bruce Baseball ProCamp kicked off Friday at Sycamore High School on Friday.

The two-day event is open to boys and girls ages 6-14 and focuses on baseball fundamentals. Camp attendees are placed in small groups and receive instruction from 30 of the area's top baseball coaches.

"The younger you can get them going and get them playing and understand the game a little bit, the more opportunity there is, and I think Cincinnati has obviously had its greats come through here, and hopefully, one of the greats are standing out right now at the camp," Bruce explained to FOX19.

The camp ends Saturday. Participants receive an autographed team photo with Bruce, ProCamp T-shirt, goodie bag and the opportunity to win additional prizes.
