Phoenix police arrest suspect in fatal shooting

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Phoenix police have arrested a person they believed shot and killed a man on a Phoenix street Monday night.

The victim, 42-year-old Larry Williams, and another person were standing on a sidewalk at 1838 E. Adams St. about 9 p.m. when the suspect walked up from behind and began yelling, said Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump. The suspect, 35-year-old Garrick Solomon, then fired multiple shots from a handgun at the victim, Crump said.

Officers at a nearby traffic stop found Williams on the sidewalk as a number of people ran from the scene.

Police set up a perimeter and a search turned up the suspect, who Crump said knew the victim.

Solomon was arrested and the investigation was continuing Tuesday morning, Crump said.

No other information was immediately available.
