SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ (CBS5) -

A 2-year-old girl pulled from a community pool in San Tan Valley died Tuesday night morning, a spokesman for the Pinal County Sheriff's Office said.

Lillian Serrano was found floating in the water near the steps of the Magma Ranch community pool about 8 p.m. Tuesday night, said Tim Gaffney of the PCSO.

The child's mother, Stacie Rubianes, 20, was at the pool with a roommate and friend and didn't see her daughter wander away, Gaffney said.

The child was not breathing despite CPR efforts by deputies and emergency medical technicians, Gaffney said, and was airlifted to Florence Anthem Hospital. She died at 9:38 p.m., Gaffney said.

The investigation is continuing, he said.
