A Bibb County sheriff's deputy has resigned after allegations were made against him, Sheriff Keith Hannah confirms.
The former deputy, an 18-year veteran, resigned Friday, July 19 after learning of allegations of excessive force. The former deputy has not been charged with a crime so Sheriff Hannah is not releasing his name.
Hannah adds that the former deputy is the only person under investigation and nothing sexual is alleged to have occurred.
The allegations are still under investigation and officials have not released information about the circumstances. Bibb County District Attorney Michael Jackson is also involved in this case. He says the incident happened within the past two weeks.
Jackson adds that his office is drafting a letter requesting help from the Alabama Bureau of Investigation to see if there's any truth to the allegations.
