PD: AZ man injures sleeping mom in knife attack

BULLHEAD CITY, AZ (CBS5) -

A Bullhead City man is on the loose after he stabbed his mother while she was sleeping, police said.

The woman told police her son, Zachary McGuire, 21, allegedly attacked her with a knife at around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The victim suffered a neck laceration and defensive wounds on her arms, police said.

She was taken to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Police said they were unable to locate the suspect. Police said the man's mother told them he battles mental issues. 

McGuire is described as 5'8" and weighs 140 pounds. he has blond-spiked hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a plaid, long-sleeved shirt and black shorts.

He faces charges of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct involving a weapon per domestic violence.
