FedEx employee fired after package throwing video goes viral

(WMC-TV) - FedEx ships 10 million packages around the world each day. But it takes just one YouTube video for the Memphis-based company to go into damage control mode.

A YouTube video shows a female FedEx employee in Manhattan throwing dozens of packages into a truck. Then, she put more muscle into it and began throwing them overhanded, seemingly with no concern about what is inside each package.

The video has gone viral, showing the employee even teaching another man how throw the boxes as deep into the truck as possible.

FedEx says the company is disappointed and reassures the public that this was the act of one person.  The company released the following statement:

"On behalf of all FedEx team members world-wide, I want to tell you that we were very disappointed to see the recent online video. FedEx sets high performance standards for our team members, which is why our customers trust us to pick up and deliver almost 10 million packages a day around the globe. I want you to know that this situation is completely unacceptable to us and this driver is no longer working for FedEx. I want to apologize to all of our customers for the actions of this individual."

In the day of social media and YouTube, it does not take long for the actions of one person to be seen by many. The video was uploaded to YouTube Wednesday and by Friday afternoon, had already been seen more than 15,000 times.
