TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Officials with Golder Ranch Fire District have rescued a 15-year-old boy who was trapped on an island in the middle of a wash near Rancho Vistoso and Oracle.

According to Josh Hurguy with the Golder Ranch Fire District, the boy was in the wash to check out the water when the water level rose very rapidly, stranding the teen on an island.

Golder Ranch responded and deployed their technical rescue team. The boy was able to cross one body of water to another section of the wash and that's where firefighters, using ropes, were able to pull him to safety.
