Normally when it comes to prisons, people attempt to break out of them. That was not this case this morning at Draper Correctional Facility when someone broke in to several areas and stole laptops and multiple weapons.

According to the Alabama Department of Corrections, someone broke into the farm office at Draper Prison in the early hours of Monday morning. From there, the suspect(s) proceeded through the radio shop and into the dog kennel - all three sections of the facility were burglarized.

Authorities say three laptops were taken from the radio show, and four weapons, an AR 15 Rifle, two shot guns, and 30-06, were all removed from the dog kennel.

The three facilities in question, the farm office, radio shop, and dog kennels, while on the Draper Correctional campus, they are away from the prison population and separate from the prison proper.

The break-in was discovered around 5 a.m. Monday when workers started arriving and noticed the missing items.

Search dogs were immediately brought in. The dogs led authorities to the woods where the trail stopped. A search of Draper was conducted, the suspect(s) involved are believed to have broken in from the outside because no one is missing from Draper.

If you have any information regarding this incident, you are asked to contact your local law enforcement agency.
