BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -
Birmingham police and firefighters are looking into a house fire in Pratt City. The fire has not been ruled arson, but is under investigation.
Birmingham police say the fire investigator is still talking to the victim and trying to determine if foul play was involved.
The fire started around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning at 404 Maple Avenue. When firefighters arrived, they saw someone had spray painted on the house the words "NOW WE EVEN."
Officials are not exactly sure what this message means.
Neighbors say a woman was inside the home when the fire started. She jumped out of a window and was not hurt. According to witnesses, her three children were not home when the fire started.
Neighbors say the family is getting help from the Red Cross. We have reached out to them to see what items the family needs right now. As soon as we get that information, we will post it on our website.
