Explosive Indiana semi crash caught on tape

DECATUR CO., IN (FOX19) -

An Owenton, Kentucky semi driver and his young son went for a wild ride after he was forced off the roadway by another vehicle and the whole thing was caught on tape.

It happened on Thursday in Decatur County, Indiana, about 1 hour northwest of Cincinnati.

Troopers say the semi, driven by Ryan T. Young of Owenton, KY, was eastbound on I-74 approaching exit 132 when another vehicle began drifting into his lane.

Young told troopers he swerved to avoid the other vehicle and ran off the south side of the interstate. That's where the semi ran up a hill then through the guardrail.

The semi then continued eastbound as it "ramped" the U.S. 421 interchange before striking another guardrail tearing off the fuel tanks, causing the fuel to ignite.

Young suffered some minor facial and head injuries and his 7-year-old son who was a passenger in the semi, suffered only a few scratches.

Both were transported to Decatur County Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
