ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
CBS Atlanta News has confirmed that Usher Raymond V, the 5-year-old son of R & B singer Usher, was hospitalized in the intensive care unit after an incident in the pool at a northwest Atlanta home.
Usher V, known to his family by the nickname Cinco, was playing in the pool Monday afternoon at his home on Howell Mill Road NW when his arm became stuck in the drain.
The boy's aunt, Rena Oden, and housekeeper Maria Diago tried to pry him free, to no avail, according to a police report.
The women screamed for help.
Police released audio of Oden's emergency call to 911.
Oden, virtually out of breath, frantically pleads with the operator for help.
"My nephew was in the pool and he went and I couldn't get him. I tried to get him, and they got him now. They (sic) doing CPR on him," Oden said.
"Is he breathing?" the operator asks.
"He's breathing! Yes, ma'am. We need you here now!" Oden exclaims.
Two contractors working at the home, Eugene Stachurski and Benjamin Crews, rescued the boy.
Stachurski performed CPR and revived the boy.
Usher V was transported unconscious to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, where he is expected to fully recover.
The singer was not at the home at the time of the incident.
Usher and his ex-wife, Tameka Foster Raymond, have two children together.
Last year, Raymond's 11-year-old stepson from a previous relationship died after a jet ski accident on Lake Lanier.
