The Auburn Tigers spent their first day in full pads indoors, as steady showers moved Auburn's practice Tuesday afternoon to the indoor practice facility at the Auburn Athletics Complex. The Tigers held a two-hour full-contact workout and the coaches were pleased overall with the results.
"I felt like we had a very solid practice. The energy was good and very physical," Coach Gus Malzahn said after practice. "The new guys are getting plenty of opportunities to show the coaches what they can do.
"The main thing is to evaluate our players and to try to put them in different situations and get them on the field to make plays," Malzahn said looking ahead to Wednesday's practice, which will include some scrimmage work.
The Tigers hold their first practice of the preseason at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Wednesday. Auburn's season opener is Saturday, August 31, at Jordan-Hare Stadium versus Washington State in a 6 p.m. Central kickoff.
