BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

After a long day of fishing, one man's day took a turn for the worse when he drove his car into the water at the old Broadwater property.

The man was leaving the property in his 2003 Ford Mustang GT just after 2pm. He told police he bent down to reach for cigarettes on his floorboard, and before he could regain control of his vehicle, he was headed into the water.

He wasn't injured in the accident and was able to climb out through a window. It took about 20 minutes to pull the vehicle from the water.

Biloxi Police said accidents like this can happen to anyone. They advise all drivers to always exercise caution and avoid distractions of all kinds.
