COVINGTON CO., AL (WSFA) -

Three men are facing charges after attempting to kidnap a Covington County man over a property bond issue.

Deputies say they responded to a call at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday about a fight in progress on County Road 107 in Red level at the intersection of Grenage Forge Road.

Covington County Deputies say 33-year-old Walter Chris Griggs stated that three or four men got out of a vehicle at his residence and attempted to kidnap him.

Griggs told deputies that suspects, 54-year-old James Larkin Sprayberry from LaGrange, GA., 27-year-old Brenton McCarley from Five Points, Al. and 21-year-old Steven Gallion from Andalusia, Al., tased him, choked him causing him to pass out and restrained his arms with zip ties. He also reported that the men threatened him with a knife.

Deputies say the men were attempting to kidnap Griggs in order to bring him to face charges in Georgia. One of the men had put up a property bond for the charges.

The three suspects have been charged with kidnapping second degree and assault third degree.

All suspects were placed in the Covington County Jail with a $23,000 bond.
