SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -

Casey and Sandy Parsons' two children will remain in state custody following a Department of Social Services hearing, according to a source familiar with the case.

The couple showed up early for the court appearance in Rowan County Thursday morning.

The Parsons are the adoptive parents of Erica Parsons, who has been missing for over two years and was only recently reported missing to authorities in Rowan County.

The Parsons were called to court Thursday morning on a juvenile summons regarding their two other children.

WBTV's Coleen Harry spoke with the Parsons before their court appearance.

They told her that they believe Erica is still alive but is afraid to call them.

Casey Parsons responded to Coleen's questions about newly released warrants in the case from Wednesday that said teeth, a hammer and video footage was found in a barn on Sandy Parson's parents property.

Casey said she saved all of her children's teeth as soon as they fell out and put them in individual envelopes for each child to keep for the tooth fairy.

She said the barn that was searched by investigators at Sandy's parents home is one she hasn't been in for years. It was used to store records, she says.

Casey said she didn't know anything about the red stains on the stairs and floor boards mentioned in earlier warrants. The JonBenet Ramsey magazines were from her sister, she says.

The Parsons told Coleen that they have spoken with investigators and felt blind sided by Dr. Phil McGraw. They appeared on his show Tuesday and Wednesday.

They say the shows producers told them they weren't going to scare Erica from calling but that's exactly what the Parsons say happened.
