READING, OH (FOX19) -

A 2-year-old girl is in stable condition after she was accidentally shot in the leg Thursday evening in Reading, according to police.

It happened at the Lakeshore Apartment Complex on Lakeview Drive, just off of East Galbraith Road, just before 7:30 p.m.

Reading Police say the child suffered a single gunshot wound in the leg and was immediately taken Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

The victim was in stable condition Friday afternoon and remained at Children's Hospital.

The Reading Police Department Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incident. Upon completion, the case will be reviewed by the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office. 

Charges are pending at this time.
