The Auburn Police Division, the Lee County Sheriff's Department, the US Attorney's Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigations are involved in a multi-state federal dog fighting investigation, culminating in actions taken Friday by those agencies.
Law enforcement agents moved in on a house on Lee Road 148 Friday morning where they seized numerous animals. Those animals are being treated and transferred to shelters where they will receive veterinary treatment.
The Opelika Police Department, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) were also involved in the investigation.
This is an ongoing investigation and further details will be provided at a press conference hosted by the US Attorney's Office at 10:30 AM on Monday August 26th on Clayton Street in Montgomery.
