Posted: Updated:

Good evening and TGIF! Here are a few of the stories we're working on here in the WAFF 48 newsroom on a busy Friday.

With the start of the high school football season just one week away in Alabama, we're investigating a growing danger: concussions. WAFF 48's Shumuriel Ratliff is talking with a local football coach and medical officials to see what measures are being taken to make sure this ever-increasing problem at all levels of this sport are held to a minimum.

We're also continuing to follow up on a shooting in North Huntsville this afternoon. It turns out the shooting was a drive-by shooting on Evans Avenue, with a shooting victim taken to Huntsville Hospital with serious injuries sustained from a gunshot wound to the leg. We'll have the latest details.

And we're also continuing to follow a crash in Madison County this afternoon that involved a school bus and drug agents. It happened at the intersection of Nance Road and Mt. Zion in Monrovia. Drug agents who were chasing a suspect wound up being involved in a collision with a Madison County school bus that originated at Monrovia Middle School. No students were on board and there were no injuries. But we're continuing to uncover the latest details into what led to this chase and crash.

We hope you'll join us tonight at 10,
