Erica Parsons' biological mother fires back at attorney

ROWAN COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

Erica Parsons' biological mother says she's been told  not to speak publicly anymore about the case involving her missing daughter, but she decided to speak to WBTV Friday afternoon.

"I'm in somebody's nightmare and they will not wake up and let me out," Carolyn Parsons said.

According to investigators, Erica Parsons was reported missing on July 30 to the Sheriff's Office by her step-brother James. She was reportedly last seen in November 2011, in Salisbury, when she was 13-years-old.

Her adoptive parents, Sandy and Casey Parsons have been at the center of mounting speculation over what happened to the teen. When Erica was a few months old, Carolyn says she gave the baby to Casey and Sandy, her in-laws at the time.

"No mother wants to have children and just give them up. I didn't want to. She didn't deserve the life that I had," Parsons said.

Parsons says the last time she saw Erica was in January 2011, almost an entire year before Erica allegedly went to live with her biological grandmother. As WBTV was first to report, that biological grandmother died in 2005.  Parsons, who now lives out of state said she came back to North Carolina when she found out about Erica's mysterious disappearance.

Casey and Sandy Parsons' attorney hinted that Carolyn should know how to find Erica.

"Nan came to Casey and Sandy through birth mother. That's who brought Nan to them and probably knows who Nan is," said Salisbury attorney Carlyle Sherrill.

Carolyn Parsons told WBTV that Sherrill's claim is wrong.

"Nan and Irene don't exist. The only two people that know the truth are the only two people that won't give the truth," Parsons said.

No one has been charged with Erica's disappearance.
