MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - History was made Saturday night at Riverwalk as Montgomery Biscuits starting pitcher threw the first no-hitter in the stadium's ten year history over the Jacksonville Suns.
Mateo struck out Danny Black with his 100th pitch of the game in route to the 3-0 victory.
Mateo (6-9) allowed just one base runner the entire game and that was a walk to the second batter of the game. He becomes just the second pitcher in Biscuits history to throw a no-hitter. The other was Matt Moore back on June 16, 2011.
Mateo threw a one-hitter back in July against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
Mateo said he tried to focus on the game instead of the no-hitter but the thought was always on the back of his mind.
The Biscuits (66-66) scored first on an RBI-double from Kyeong Kang and Cameron Seitzer added a two-run home run in the sixth.
