NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Former Titans linebacker Keith Bulluck was arrested early Sunday morning for allegedly robbing a Nashville taxi driver outside of a mid-town bar. Bulluck was later released on bond.

The driver told Metro Police a man had given him money to wait outside of Blue Gene's Bar on Church Street. The driver said Bulluck approached him and tried to hire him, but he declined. As the driver was putting his money away, the cab driver says Bulluck reached through the open passenger window, grabbed the driver by his shirt and took a $100 bill out of his stack of cash.

According to court documents, the driver's shirt was torn when police got to the scene.

Habib Hashi led police to Bulluck in a parking lot down the road. Officers say Bulluck had two $100 bills. One of the bills was taken as evidence.

Bulluck released a statement through The Tennessean:

"There was a misunderstanding between me and the cab driver about getting money back for a service not rendered. At 2 a.m., things could easily get lost in translation, but regardless of who was right or wrong, I regret putting myself in that situation."

Titans head coach Mike Munchak said in a press conference Sunday afternoon:

"When he was here playing as a football player he made good decisions. So I'm assuming, again I'll wait to hear the information on what happened, but I'm sure it will all get worked out hopefully. It's something he's very innocent in, I hope."

According to records, Hashi, the driver and alleged victim, has worked for at least three Nashville cab companies. He was fired from Yellow Cab two years ago.

Doug Trimble, Yellow Cab's general manager, said, "His nickname was Pinocchio; that's what we called him in the business."

Trimble said Hashi made up a number of stories, including being beaten by soldiers and several robberies.

Hashi, when reached by telephone, said he was scared and didn't want to talk.

Channel 4 News previously covered a story with Hashi, who made a similar complaint against Tennessee State Senator Ophelia Ford. He accused Ford of tearing his shirt during an altercation when she was drunk back in 2007.

Hashi also had a court date Aug. 22 relating to an apartment eviction earlier this month.

Bulluck is due in court Sept. 26.  He played for the Titans for 10 seasons and has been an analyst on the Titans' preseason television games the past two seasons.

The taxi company that currently employs Hashi said it will be doing its own investigation into the matter in order to get both sides of the story.
