CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The Cuyahoga Medical Examiner confirms that the office has been notified of the death of the reported drowning victim from earlier Sunday.

Cleveland EMS confirmed that three people were rescued from the water near N. Marginal and E. 72nd Street which began at approximately 6:43 p.m. on Sunday, August 25.

Reports from authorities say that a family of three were the people involved in the rescue.  Apparently a 12-year-old boy somehow fell into the water while the family was fishing on the E. 72nd St. pier.  Both parents then jumped into the water to save their son.  A good samaritan who was close by also went into action to help the family.  The mom, son and good samaritan all made it out fine but the father wouldn't be so fortunate.

EMS reported that they transported the child to Rainbow Babies and Children while mom and dad were transported to MetroHealth Medical Center.  The woman and child were in stable condition while dad was in full cardiac arrest.

Just after 9:30 p.m., the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the drowning death.

The victim's identity has not been released and no other information is available at this time.
