GARDNER, KS (KCTV) -

Police took one man into custody early Monday morning following an overnight disturbance and stabbing.

The incident began about 1 a.m. at the Conestoga Estates mobile home park located in a neighborhood just south of Main Street and east of Moonlight Drive.

Police say there was a disturbance between two men, and one of them stabbed the other with a knife.

The victim went to an area hospital where he was treated for a non-life-threatening wound.

Police and a Johnson County Sheriff tactical unit set up a perimeter around the mobile home and evacuated a few residents from nearby homes as a precaution.

Officers then waited for a search warrant before trying to enter the home.

Police say they decided to enter the home about 6:45 a.m. because it was getting time for students to start going to school.

When police went to the door, the man surrendered without incident.

Police claim there was never a standoff because they never tried to reach the man before getting the search warrant and going up to the door.
