Father of slain 3-year-old pleads for answers in double murder

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Violence has once again touched a Kansas City family, and the father of a slain 3-year-old is pleading for justice.

"I'm a father and to bury my child, it's hard," said Damian White, the father of 3-year-old Damiah White, who was found slain Friday night along with her mother, Myeisha Turner. "I'm just filled with emotion."

Turner's sister, Ebony, was a 23-year-old college student who was fatally shot on Dec. 11, 2011, when she was driving north on 26th Street and Parallel Parkway. Her killer was sentenced in February to 10 years in prison.

The unthinkable occurred Friday night when Turner was found inside her new home at 55th Street and Wabash Avenue, along with her daughter. Her 11-month-old son, Denim White, was found traumatized and wandering among the bodies.

The children's father said Monday that Turner was a good mother. Denim is now living with him. The boy is physically fine, but his father cannot imagine explaining to his son why his mother is no longer in his life.

"She was the best mother. She was hardworking," Damian White said. "She was going to school. She was doing the best she could."

He said his daughter was loving and truly one of a kind. He called her "moo-moo monster."

"You would never forget her," he said.

Adhoc Group Against Crime is offering the family grief counseling and support. Adhoc spokesman Bryan Dial said he hopes someone will offer information that leads to the killer.

"If this doesn't prick your heart, if you know something and you don't come forward, you are just as insane as the person who did this," Dial said.

A fund for Denim has been created. Donations can be made in the name of Denim White at any area Arvest bank.

If you have any information on the slayings, call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
