8th suspect captured in violent assault case of 2 in Dothan

DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) -

The Dothan Police Department says it has arrested the 8th suspect who was wanted in the violent assault of two people in the Circle City on August 25.

Officer responded to the 400 block of North Appletree Street after receiving reports of multiple subjects assaulting two individuals.

Investigators say the incident began when one of the victims, a 27 year old black male began arguing with a woman outside of the "Outcast Motorcycle Club" located at 414 N. Appletree Street. As the victims attempted to leave, they were violently assaulted by several individuals. The victims suffered multiple bruises and abrasions, but identified their assailants as being Wendell Key, Eze Abuwali, Robert Williams Jr., Johney Thompson, Dominic Overton, Michael Lockett, Rafael Tyrues and Carlos Stewart.

The Dothan Police Department reported Tuesday that Carlos Camile Stewart, who was wanted on two counts of second degree assault in connection with the incident, was taken into custody late Monday evening.

The victims refused medical treatment at the scene and all but Carlos Stewart were arrested at the location.

  • Wendell Zachary Key, 42, of Chrisney Lane was arrested and charged with two counts of second degree Assault. A bond amount has been set totaling $30,000.

  • Eze Abuwali, 43, of Madison, Alabama was arrested and charged with two counts of second degree Assault. A bond amount has been set totaling $30,000.

  • Robert Williams Jr., 50, of Huntsville, Alabama was arrested and charged with two counts of second degree Assault. A bond amount has been set totaling $30,000. 

  • Johney Frank Thompson, 55, of Opelika, Alabama was arrested and charged with two counts of second degree Assault. A bond amount has been set totaling $30,000. 

  • Dominic T. Overton, 31, of Ozark, Alabama was arrested and charged with two counts of second degree Assault. A bond amount has been set totaling $30,000. 

  • Michael Lee Lockett, 45, of New Market, Alabama was arrested and charged with two counts of second degree Assault. A bond amount has been set totaling $30,000.

  • Rafael Devon Tyrues, 31, of Ozark, Alabama was arrested and charged with two counts of second degree Assault. A bond amount has been set totaling $30,000.

  • Carlos Camile Stewart, arrested and charged with two counts of second degree Assault. Bond amount currently unknown.
