SHAWNEE, KS (KCTV) -

The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating a rollover accident where several people were ejected.

The single-vehicle accident happened shortly after 6 a.m. on northbound Interstate 435 south of Midland Drive.

The SUV was traveling northbound and rolled into the median almost into the southbound lanes.

Five people, including an infant, were taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Three patients were discharged and two adults were admitted. They are currently in serious, but stable condition.

"My heartfelt thanks to the good Samaritans who stopped to assist the victims and provided comfort to them before the first responders, emergency personnel and fire and state troopers arrived on the scene,"  Dr. Raymond Brovont said in a written statement. "We all express gratitude for everyone's excellent care of these victims who were thrown from the vehicle."

All lanes of I-435 were reopened shortly before 7:30 a.m.
