Troy ready for fireworks after season opener vs UAB

TROY, Ala. – Fireworks will fill the sky for the first time since 2007 on a Troy football game day as the City of Troy and Troy University have teamed up to bring fans and the citizens of Pike County a postgame fireworks show on Saturday following Troy's season opener against UAB.

Kickoff between the Trojans and Blazers is set for 6 p.m. in Veterans Memorial Stadium and tickets for the game are still available for purchase through the Troy ticket office at 1-877-878-WINS or online at TroyTrojans.com.

Originally scheduled for the Fourth of July but canceled due to heavy rain, the fireworks show will begin approximately 10 minutes following the conclusion of the game.

"We are proud to partner with Troy University to provide the fireworks to celebrate the first home football game of the season," Troy Mayor Jason Reeves said. "Once our July dates were rained out, we considered Labor Day as our other alternative and with the activities at the University, we knew it would be a wonderful way to reach residents and visitors alike. We look forward to a great fireworks display, good music and a Trojan win!"

With over 20 minutes of fireworks, Troy's annual show is one of the largest fireworks shows in Central Alabama. The best viewing location will be in Veterans Memorial Stadium, however the fireworks should be able to be seen from around the county. "

While it was unfortunate that the Fourth of July celebration was rained out, we are very appreciative to the City of Troy and Mayor Jason Reeves for the opportunity to have the show following our game on Saturday," Troy Athletics Director John Hartwell said.

"The fireworks show is always the highlight of the summer, and we are excited to add it to our game day atmosphere."
