PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A dozen people have been arrested for illegally selling prescription-only drugs at Valley yerberia shops, authorities said.

Mesa Police Department spokesman Sgt. Tony Landato said married-couple Reynaldo Olivares and Rosa Blanco own several Los 3 Amigos and El Renacer yerberia shops in the Valley that have been selling prescription drugs manufactured in Mexico.

Police said the other ten suspects operated the businesses: Nicolas Nolasco-Olivares, Jose Menderez-Segura, Norma Coc-Blanco, Ignacio Blanco, Ramon Soriano-Frias, Roberto Gutierrez-Isidro, Laura Olivares, Maria Cordoba, Sandra Gamez-Valez and Maria Rojas.

Among the shops were Los 3 Amingos at 855 W. University in Mesa and El Renacer locations at 535 E. Southern Ave. and at 482 W. Ray Rd.

A year-long investigation led officers to serve 14 search warrants throughout the cities of Mesa, Phoenix, Tempe, Scottsdale, Chandler and Tolleson on Wednesday morning, according to Landato. Half of the locations were the suspects' homes and the other half were yerberia shop locations.

One location had a secured room where the drugs were stored.

Landato said several homes, businesses, vehicles and bank accounts were seized as evidence.

The suspects face charges of participating in a criminal syndicate and sale of drugs.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
