About Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama was formed in 1996 with the goal of
establishing and expanding breast cancer research labs at the UAB Comprehensive Cancer
Center. With support from corporations and individuals, the foundation has raised nearly $4
million for research into this devastating disease. UAB has been able to generate $16 million in
grant funding from the "seed money" provided by the BCRFA, which has been instrumental in
significant treatments that are now reaching women across the United States. The Foundation
Board and an army of tireless volunteers, many of whom are breast cancer survivors have
galvanized their resources in the ongoing effort to find a cure.
