DALEVILLE, AL (WSFA) -

Almost two weeks after authorities in the city of Daleville found several city vehicles destroyed by an arsonist, an arrest is being made in the case.

Thursday afternoon, the Daleville Police Department confirmed it has arrested 34-year-old Newton resident Jonathan Brock Wofford, and charged him with one count of arson in the second degree, one county of criminal trespass in the second degree and five counts of criminal mischief in the first degree.

Wofford was arrested in connection with the fire at Daleville's City Shop that happened on August 15. Authorities originally reported 4 vehicles and a storage barn were damaged or destroyed in a fire, but Thursday said the number was five city vehicles and a storage barn.

Authorities estimate the damage to be at least $250,000.

Investigators with the Dale County Sheriff's Office say Wofford was linked to the arson through information provided by "a concerned citizen". Details about the information provided were not released.

Wofford is on record as denying involvement with the arson, but police used the evidence they were holding against him and charged him with the crimes.

The Daleville Department of Public Safety says Wofford may not be the only suspect, adding more arrests might be pending.

Wofford will be transported to the Dale County Jail on no bond pending an appearance before the Dale County District Court Judge.

Authorities ask anyone with information into the crimes to call the Daleville Police Department at (334) 598-4442.
