BAGDAD, AZ (CBS5) -

Police say a 15-year-old boy was arrested after bragging at school about using stolen credit cards even though he wasn't able to access the money.

Yavapai County Sheriff's Office said the teen from Bagdad, AZ, admitted to taking three credit cards from an unlocked vehicle parked on McKnight Street in Bagdad.

On Wednesday morning, the victim, a 48-year-old Bagdad man, called deputies to report the theft.

He said his daughter told him her friend had recovered one of the cards from a classmate at school Tuesday night.

Police said the 15-year-old boy had bragged about going to an ATM machine to try to get $200 from the account, but without the PIN, he couldn't access the money.

Deputies later confirmed the teen was on active out-of-state probation for theft and those authorities were notified.

YCSO is encouraging residents to lock unattended vehicles, even when parked at home.
